A Poem by Angelheaded Hipster

Dusk rising along the horizon
crickets beginning their nightly
summer song, as I sip my iced sweet tea
on the porch.

Mosquitos can’t seem to leave me be,
freshly made red welts breaking
out on my arms, itching begins.
They say that the little bugs dig
on the scent of bananas.
Funny that, I haven’t ate any fruit
in quite a few days.

I really need to consider purchasing
one of those bug zappers, it would make
for some entertainment
on quiet nights like this.
The popping of the little bugs
would cause much rejoicing,
and my skin would be rather pleased.

(Amber, The Angelheaded Hipster, is my favourite poet working on the internet. Her joy in the delights of language is infectious. Her laughter and intelligence shine through all her work. If, like us, you want more of her fantastic poetry in gingaTao!, let us know. We will anyway, because Amber is the poppinest, rockinest poet in the whole cyberuniverse!)
